Now that Dogpatch has widely become seen as someone who has deep favoritism issues and conflicts of interest, many have come out against DPP. Sharing stories of harassment, work without pay, and journalistic negligence, DPP has solidly set himself in a terrible light.
Unfortunately these revelations are muddying the waters so much that many are coming to believe that everyone he called out for being terrible human beings is now suddenly absolved of their deeds. But this is very much so not the case.
Dogpatch may be guilty of a lot of things including doxxing innocent individuals who were considered “guilty by association” but he wasn’t wrong about absolutely everyone he called out and to suggest such would push back the social reclamation movement our community is currently undergoing.
Below is a prime example of a person Dogpatch fairly targeted for his actions:
He may have targeted people unfairly at times and even got a few cases wrong but that does not prove the innocence of everyone he targeted, only a select few who were caught in the crossfire.
Take for example @FurRightDiscord (Formerly @FurredReichDiscord) in the examples provided above. By these admissions we can presume that he is either:
A. A Nazi himself. or B. A Nazi Sympathizer.
Regardless of what the answer to that question is, it’s clear to see that Dogpatch was correct in targeting this individual. He wasn’t correct in doxxing him. But certainly in calling him out for his actions.
(EDITOR: We we’re informed that @FurRightDiscord is a literal nazi and should be avoided at all costs, he has done everything in his power to organize other nazifurs, and the discord by the same name no longer exists due to it violating Discord’s TOS on hateful conduct.)
Do not allow the fact that DPP was found to be a terrible human, blind you to the awful people he called out. Give everyone you meet a chance to prove they aren’t terrible (Because DPP DID fuck up with his targets at times) but don’t allow those we have definitive proof are terrible to slide under the radar.
(Special Note: OwO does not support doxxing individuals. The community can police itself.)
As many of you know I myself am a former free lance journalist who worked for Dogpatch Press, and while I myself may indeed be a little….okay a LOT biased based on my past interactions with Patch, (Who as of this writing has still yet to pay me for the syndication of my Ostrich article which you can find here on OwO.) I am hoping to give a comprehensive look at the rise and fall of Dogpatch Press.
Dogpatch Press (DPP) started back in 2014 and from that point forward was one of the few, wide spread news sites to cover the happenings of the furry fandom. Covering everything from furry history to the creation of brand new conventions as well as furry music reviews and book releases, DPP set themself up as the leading outlet for all things furry related.
Patch is, in his own words, “A fabulous husky dog who made the Furry News site to be like his ideal 1990’s indie zine.” He’s been a guest speaker and dancer on multiple stages, and organizes meet ups of up to several hundred furries all over the US with national TV coverage.
But what many have seen as a benevolent and wise content creator for the furry fandom may not in fact technically be so benign, and with recent shit takes like defending an article he recently retweeted that was published by a seemingly non-existent furry in May of 2018 that spouts the idea that “Cub porn (read child porn) is innocent.” to actively blocking anyone who disagrees with that sentiment, DPP has set themselves up for a long hard fall.
But this is not the first time DPP has done something so egregious in the furry fandom, merely the latest.
From leaking private information of those who may innocently follow certain individuals who later turn out to be awful, to refusing to remove said information once it is brought to his attention, DPP has a hard time admitting he’s wrong and retracting his statements.
Yet still even despite this fact people still flocked to his website. After all where else were they going to turn to? At the time it was well known as the “Most Active Furry News Site On The Web.” and with so little competition, who else was going to challenge him in this? ^,~
If that wasn’t enough to really understand the man though, allow me to make some final revelations as an ex-employee that you may not be aware of.
1. Patch lives in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. 2. In California the minimum wage for 1 hour of work is 11 dollars an hour. 3. I was offered syndication with Dogpatch Press at 10 dollars per article or 5 dollars per article if I shared it both on DPP and OwO. 4. Your average in depth article and interview can take several hours to gather the research / obtain a completed interview. 5. I accepted this shitty deal because I’m desperate to move to a different state as my mental and physical health is declining where I live. 6. I am 28 years old. I am not a child to be paid under the table your scraps.
If EVEN THAT doesn’t sway your approval from Patch then allow me to quote a tweet of mine:
“The fact he deleted my resignation letter but not the cub porn article is pretty damning if you ask me. He thought my polite business termination was MORE OFFENSIVE then the cub porn article. Let that sink in. Wash your hands of Dogpatch in that sink. “
As many of you know Kabier, the former owner of the @KabsCorner handle on Twitter, was an ostentatious self aggrandizing bigoted nightmare of a human, whose exploits include trans erasure, racism, sexism, transphobia, and homophobia.
And with shit takes such as calling SonicFox a N***** F*****, and creating art with the phrase “Everyone Deserves Human Rights” in protest of a meme that sported the phrase “Trans Rights Are Human Rights” as her bread and butter, Kabier set herself up for her eventual removal from the furry community with many groups and individuals coming together under the same resonating idea.
No matter how good her art is, she is not welcome here.
With that in mind, who in their right mind would ever dare to adopt such a shitty twitter handle with such a harrowing past? Would they be just as bad if not worse? Did they do it to grab the attention of people who were eagerly looking to take a bite out of the “FUCK YOU KABIER” casserole?
To answer these questions I decided to sit down with the man and get a feel for who he is in an effort to answer questions that many may have about this mysterious individual who rose up out of nowhere.
Below is my interview with Rosh, the absolute mad lad.
(I)ndigobang!?: Hello Rosh, I’m with Dogpatch Press and OwO What’s News!?. I was made aware of the fact that you have come under the ownership of the @KabsCorner username and I’d like to see if I can’t set up an interview with you. Please let me know whether you would be interested in that or not at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your time. ~Indigobang!?
(R)osh: Hahaha oh man, that’s so cool. I’d love to do an interview! Though it’d have to be through text because I’m not a very eloquent speaker.
(I): Thats perfectly fine.
(R): If you already have stuff in mind, I’m free right now.
(I): Let’s start with the basics. Who are you exactly? Like how would you describe yourself?
(R): I’d describe myself as an artist from the Philippines! That’s the thing that comes readily to mind, followed by “several lizards stacked on top of each other.” I’m sort of a shapeshifter 😛
(I): So you’re a scalie?
(R): Yeah, you could say that! I’ve a kobold for the better part of two, maybe three years. Right now I’m an incineroar, which was originally because of different December, but I’ve just fallen in love with the design.
(I): Is that the Bara fetish talking or just a regular appreciation for the overall design?
(R): I’d say both! I mean, incineroar’s normal design communicates the usual appeal of “big buff dude” without actually defining a lot of his muscles, so furry art fills in those gaps with the muscle definition you see regularly with incineroar art. It also helps that Smash Ultimate came out and rocked every furry’s world with his animations.
(I): Have you thought about doing art of King K. Rool? He’s pretty bara.
(R): He is! Especially with his chest and belly made of gold. Though, I’m actually not that good at fan art most of the time; Incineroar sort of popped to me because his design was already sort of compatible with the stuff I already make.
I’d like to draw Bowser, for example, but I can’t seem to nail it in a way that doesn’t look like I just pasted an illustration of bowser’s head onto a hunky body.
(I): Aside from your own artistic credentials, were you surprised by how much attention you garnered by jacking Kabs account name?
(R): Honestly, I was just expecting the tweets to blow up. I didn’t think over 500 people would follow me over the past 3 days! I think I was at, like, 1.3k followers before I changed my username. So the attention from the tweet was expected, but not all the people deciding to stick around for my content.
(I):Thats pretty awesome. I’m glad to see people flocking to a person deserving of the attention instead of the old nuclear waste that used to own the handle.
(R): Thanks! Turns out the one downside to deleting your twitter so people can’t report you is someone like me can snag your name and still clown on you.
(I): I’ve heard you’re a transgender individual is that correct?
(R): Yep! I’m masculine nonbinary. I used to be a lot more exploratory with how I present, but I’ve had to go back in the closet for safety reasons. A surprising amount of my friends (who I thought I was out to) didn’t actually know I was trans until I made That Post, which caught me off guard. Though it’s probably my fault for making my kink roleplay talk indistinguishable from my shitposts.
(I): I mean if they can’t accept you for who you are…are they really your friends?
(R): Hah, not that kind of surprise! Just more of, “oh, I had no idea! Sorry if I made you uncomfortable before.” Part of my masculine identity sort of evolved from not wanting to burden people with my jumbled mess of an identity, which isn’t something that usually happens with trans people I don’t think. I just chalk that up to one of my other weirdnesses.
(I): Your friends seem pretty cool.
(R): They’re so cool. If I could, I’d invite them to a party, but I actually don’t know a lot about throwing parties. It’d probably just be a lot of sitting around eating pizza and showing each other memes on our phones.
(I): When did you join the furry fandom?
(R): Hmmm. Time’s always a tricky thing to ask me. I have schizophrenia and sometimes the past just feels like a big ball of yarn in my pocket. I wanna say I really got into it around 2014, when I was starting college. I made an F-List and fell face-first into roleplay.
This was, admittedly, not a smart thing to do in hindsight; I wound up doing a lot of gross things (hypersexuality sorta does that). But I did meet some awesome people during that time. I started a tumblr blog (RIP) then migrated to twitter two years ago, roughly, and I’ve been around ever since.
Though I will say that I’ve been interested in funny animal people for as long as I can remember.
(I): How old were you at that time? Mid 20’s?
(R): I was 18 I joined college pretty much right away, I’m 22 now 😛
(I): Do you have a mixtape? Can I listen to it? If so where?
(R): I used to make music! I keep telling myself I’d get back into it, but I just focus on art nowadays. I have some tracks posted on my newgrounds under the username Spoonitate. I also have a soundcloud under the name YVNGSL_ME, https://soundcloud.com/yvngsl_me which was also my old twitter handle. (It’s pronounced Yung Slime. The “I” is resting because I’m always tired.)
(I): Awesome! What do you do for a living outside of the furry fandom? If you’d rather not say that’s perfectly fine.
(R): Outside the furry fandom, I’m a tech columnist for a newspaper. I’m not saying which one, but it’s a Philippine newspaper! I write about videogames, mostly, and sometimes I get invited to preview events. Last year I was invited to a Detroit: Become Human event here in the Philippines and a Spider-Man event overseas.
Sometimes I get to review (and beat!) games before they come out, like with Detroit, Spider-Man, and God of War. And last thanksgiving I had the honor of being the first person in the Philippines to beat the demo of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice at a media party I was invited to, which I wrote about.
(I): What other hobbies do you have aside from the furry fandom?
(R): Videogames! I like to roleplay, too, sometimes. But I guess that doesn’t count since it’s still furry related. Hmm, I’d say all my hobbies link to furry on some level.
(I): Are there any projects you are currently working on? Also, Are you open for commissions?
(R): I’m currently working on a few things already! I can’t say what they are, though. It’s a secret. As for commissions, not at the moment, sadly. If I was more business-minded I would’ve cleared my queue before getting all this attention, but I’m not an opportunistic person when it comes to money.
(I): As we wrap this interview up is there anything else you want to tell the people about? Any shout outs?
(R): If this were a video interview, I’d be making a Casey Frey impression right now. “What’s poppinggg, AAAUGH?! Shoutouts to… followers, AAAAH.”
For real, though, I wanna say to all my trans siblings out in the furry fandom; nobody’s untouchable. I won’t lie; I’m glad Kabs decided to fuck off forever when she figured out Twitter wasn’t going to stand for her bullshit. As a trans person, watching famous people get away with transphobia is a crushing experience. I never looked up to Kabs but I’ve looked up to other artists who wound up being transphobic.
When the world’s stacked against you, you learn to take the small victories like a trans person of color claiming a racist transphobe’s username and parading it around like a head on a pike.
And if I can be petty; I wanna give a big shoutout to kabier for giving me the chance to take her username! Hope you have fun when you realize the furry fandom’s the only fandom out there willing to pay massive amounts of money to artists to draw their personal characters. Wishing you and your 3-digit newgrounds follower count the best!!
PKrussl is back in the news again today with allegations of his alleged involvement with producers of not only art of cub pornography but art of full on human child pornography. These allegations stem from his now deactivated Fur Affinity account proving once again that FA has a problem that they have done nothing about as well as his account on InkBunny, a website operated and owned by a convicted pedophile.
But before we continue lets take a moment to look back and see what we know about PK:
PK became a known entity with his “Kero Is Innocent.” video on YouTube as well as the resulting feud he has with fellow YouTuber MythicalRedFox and…..that’s about it….. He showed up on the scene and delivered a hot steaming pile of shit for a take and suddenly he’s the new Kothorix apparently?
He seems more like an even shittier GenisiusWolf with terra-bad acne and hair so sharp you could stab somebody with how pointy and anime-esque it looks but for some reason he feels he’s owed respect in the fandom? And with such shit takes as “you can change the internal clock of telegram” and “JPEG artifacts = Photoshop” he has about as much credence and deserved respect as an edgy teenager screaming about how he has the power of god and anime on his side which as we’ve discussed he already has the hair for.
It’s hilariously ironic and horrifying at the same time that someone accused of intentionally viewing child pornography would stand up for someone who is accused of brutally violating their pet as well as roadkill but I guess we all should have seen this coming seeing as all PK ever does is talk about how “toxic” the community is.
But if you want more proof then just hear say have this Mega file. It’s filled with screenshots and information that twitter users stixlfox and spicycavy cobbled together after hours of research into PK and does the information far more justice then I ever could: https://t.co/kK1Aka3MY0
The vore fetish/kink has been around for quite awhile now and hundreds if not thousands of individuals enjoy not only the SFW version of artwork involving vore but the NSFW version as well, and with big conventions such as Fur Squared (Who created a poll to see if vore would be their 2019 theme.) and suiters such as Zuelansi (Whose suit relates to vore.) coming to the forefront of the furry community it seems that vore has become the trendy kink to have and enjoy.
But the truth is that vore has become a problem. SFW vore has in several cases lead underage minors to NSFW vore including Twitter user GBuddy269 who in a tweet revealed that he was 16 years old and already knew what vore porn looks like.
This is not an isolated case however and the potential of minors finding NSFW vore when they are looking for SFW vore is incredibly high as the two are often paired side by side in places like Fur Affinity and beyond due to the major lack of foresight in regards to the way that vore is categorized on these sites.
The worst part however is that whenever someone mentions that SFW vore has the potential to lead minors to NSFW vore it is sharply met with criticism and harassment and in some severe cases even threats of violence.
Whats more troubling however is the actions of vore enthusiasts like JonahVore (an infamous animal abuser) and his YouTube channel “Reptile Channel.” where he regularly feeds smaller live animals to larger ones, and while his cover story of education and necessary feeding certainly seems sound, his channel was created with the intent to cater to the vore fetish community. (Special thanks to Dog Patch Press for informing me of this problematic individual.)
Vore is a fine fetish/kink to have, I myself enjoy vore and inflation, and there are much worse ones to have out there such as cub, zoophilia/bestiality, pedophilia, and necrophilia to name a few. But when people are getting harassed and threatened with physical violence because they even mention the fact that SFW vore could (and has) lead minors to pornography, it may be time for the fandom to take a step back from their subjective point of view and their predispositions and take a more objective point of view on the subject before vore itself consumes, digests, and turn the community itself into waste.
However this is just my opinion. You are free to make up your own. All I ask is that you do not harass anyone involved in this article. No one is ever deserving of harassment and certainly not of death threats. Just because our opinions may clash does not mean I believe anyone deserves that kind of reaction. The only people deserving of that kind of treatment are people who have actively done harm to another person/animal.
Donald Trump is a divisive figure at the best of times, and with decisions and policies as controversial as continuing the bombing of Syria, to separating children from their parents at the border; It’s no wonder that his presidency has lead to such outrage from both the left and the right sides of the political landscape.
But a question not many people have asked is how his presidency has affected the furry community.
According to the latest research data available a large portion of the furry community identify somewhere on the LGBT landscape and while not many of his policies and decisions have affected the LGBT community, a solid number of them have.
From his decision to announce Mike Pence (A man who believes that electroshock therapy can “cure” individuals who identify as LGBT.) as his running mate to hiring Jeff Sessions (A man who has consistently claimed that the sanctity of marriage is between a man and a woman.) as his attorney general. This man has hired people who continue to be anti-LGBT including hiring to the supreme court two anti-LGBT judges.
There’s also the way his administration views transgender Americans to consider, and with policies such as the failed transgender military ban, and his administration’s attempt to make gender something assigned at birth and unchangeable from then on, he has firmly planted himself in the camp of other republican anti-LGBT politicians.
Yet still there are those within the furry fandom and within the larger LGBT community who do not see his actions as being anything other then benign. To them he is a god send and a return to “the norm” where they can be as offensive as they want without repercussion. Much to their surprise however there came a change in the way the furry fandom deals with them.
We need look no further then KabsCorner (Kabier), and Jasonafex (Jason) to see a great example of why “not giving a fuck” and choosing to be offensive on purpose will not give you any leeway in the furry community. Because if your intention is to be as awful as you possibly can be, the furry community will change its opinion of you and fast.
Kabscorner and Jasonafex are/were amazing furry artists with great skill and talent. Unfortunately they drew the ire of the furry community with their rampant transphobia, racism, homophobia, sexism, and (alleged) zoophilia. Since this began Kabier and Jason have both either been suspended from, privated, or deactivated their accounts on everything except Alt-Right Twitter rip-off GAB. (Which Kabier also privated after receiving backlash for calling Game Award Alumni Sonicfox a N** F**.)
Not only however has Trump’s political rhetoric reinforced this kind of behavior, he has encouraged it at times, and while twitter feuds have existed for quite awhile with the odd KYS being thrown about by both sides this goes far beyond Twitter. The furry community is no exception to the rule and the rule at current is that people have felt like they could and have been getting away with harassment of all kinds. They find humor in causing others pain like a sociopath and claim that their intentionally offensive actions are “all in good fun” or “to make you think from another perspective” but all they accomplish is harming individuals who do not deserve their ire.
The saddest part however is that they honestly believe in a lot of cases that they aren’t causing any harm. But the truth is much darker then that and actions have consequences.
Since coming into office the rate of hate crimes against LGBT Americans and POC have skyrocketed as well as the rate of suicide. Numerous furries have taken their own lives these past two years due to harassment by people who wanted to make others “see things from a different perspective” and Trump (whether directly or indirectly) has encouraged these kinds of actions and it has lead to the loss of thousands of lives nationwide.
The furry fandom may not be all of society, but it is a part of society, and Trump has poisoned the community from the inside out by making society seem like a place that you can be as offensive as you want without repercussions. But for every cause there is an effect and with the furry community seemingly splitting into two different factions this fandom is a powder keg and all its going to take is a single spark to cause a cataclysmic explosion.
The worst part? There is very little we can do about it now that the damage has been done. All we can do is pick up the pieces, hold onto our loved ones, and ride out the shit storm for however much longer this societal uprising of intentionally awful people lasts. But most importantly, we can fight.
Kabier and Jason were but one example of when the furry community comes together to rid themselves of objectionably awful people. Another great example is the controversy surrounding Kero the Wolf’s alleged zoophilia. (As of this writing Kero is still under police investigation) Trump may have caused a lot of problems within the community and society at large, but if we work together and support one another, theres nothing we can’t overcome.
